Thoughts from Mom

Hi Everybody,  As I have been studying, reading and pondering the scriptures and counsel from our leaders, I feel I have been prompted to share some of my thoughts.  It occurred to me in these perilous times that we, as grandparents, have a responsibility to help you with your responsibility to raise up this new generation of Gods children.  So take comfort to know that you are not alone and I think we are all concerned for each other.  The thought that hit me strong was to ask you to evaluate yourselves and admonish you all to be doing in your homes as the prophet has counseled. (and remember that when a prophet speaks, it’s not just counsel but a voice of warning—if you choose not to heed his directive, there will be dire consequences.)  So here are my questions to you.

 Are you having personal prayer both morning and evening? 

Are you praying together as a family morning and evening?

Are you having personal scripture study (including conference talks) every day?

Do you study the scriptures (including conference talks) together daily as a family?

Are you holding weekly family home evening?

Are you attending the temple monthly? (I know it’s a challenge with new babies, but make a plan and set goals to try to get there)

This is the basic formula for success in a marriage and family.  While you may be saying “wait a minute,  Mom and Dad didn’t do all that morning and night every day”.  Which is true.  But I have always said that you guys would have to do more and work harder to raise a family in these days.  This much I can promise you and I feel inspired to say that if you are neglecting to do these things (at least making a concerted effort) your children will be  exposed to the power of Satan and you will lose them to him (eventually)  Remember that he will be making a greater effort to draw away the children of God-- so your children are at risk because Satan really wants them.  He wants to thwart the power they have within them to be a force for good in these last days.  How much easier is it for him to draw them away because neglectful parents have not taught and prepared them for things that are and are to come. Don’t wait until you think these little ones will understand. It is truly amazing and easy to see that this generation of children come here with previously prepared spirits that are up to the task that is ahead of them.  All you have to do is heed the counsel given us to carry out their continued preparation.  It all may sound scary and it should if you are neglecting to do these things. But if you are heeding the counsel of our leaders, there is no need to fear.   You can experience peace and joy in the midst of anything. Their words are always words of comfort and cheer.  What I am saying to you all is this,  make sure you are doing these things in your family or you will sorely regret your own neglect.  You need to live everyday so you will qualify to have the spirit guide you in all things as you raise up these children.  Make sure they are number one on your priority list.  It occurred to me how important it is to pray on your food every meal especially today because of all the harmful, hidden things that are in the foods we buy.   It will protect us from their harmful effects.  It also occurred to me that we should never knowingly take harmful things into our bodies because of the example we are setting for our kids.  There is much we should be doing and be aware of as we raise a family, but I promise you that if you will focus on these 6 things (make a chart) the spirit will guide you and everything else will come.  Just 6 things.  How about if you all check in with me in November and let me know how you are doing and let us know what we can do to help.  I love all of you and know that Dad and I ourselves have been blessed with 6 incredible children that have been selected to prepare some of God’s choicest spirits for the things to come. (while Bowdrie is not there yet, he is an incredible force for God as he prepares to be an instrument for him and he needs our prayers all the time because satan would love to have him)  We are all in this together and there is power and strength in our family to help each other.  Our power is in our knowledge that, together, we can call down the powers of heaven to accomplish anything.  Lachlan is proof of that.  My testimony of my Savior is strong and my desire is for  all of my children to seek him and find him.    “Be not afraid,   but Believe”

Hey Everyone. This is Kade. I've set Mom and Dad up with a blog. I don't know if they will use it but here's to hope. We all know that mom likes to take photos so I've set her up with a picasa web album account and with a blog. she can use picasa to do everything so it should make things easy. Lets hope that she uses it.
